Activity Level:

Moderate

This journey through Brazil is ideal for travelers with a reasonable level of fitness who are comfortable walking a couple of miles per day, handling stairs, and navigating uneven terrain. While the itinerary includes ample opportunities to rest and recharge, participants should be prepared for walking tours, light hikes, and travel days with varying activity levels.

Walking & Standing

Daily city tours in São Paulo, Salvador, and Rio de Janeiro involve walking on cobblestone streets, sidewalks, and historic districts. Some areas, such as Pelourinho in Salvador, have steep inclines and uneven pavement. At Iguazu Falls, both the Brazilian and Argentine sides feature scenic walkways with occasional stairs and optional longer trails to get closer to the waterfalls.

Stairs, Trails & Inclines

Iguazu Falls has paved walkways with staircases and some inclined paths. The Argentine side includes elevated catwalks over the river. The Pantanal’s nature walks are on dirt trails and boardwalks, with some uneven ground. Climbing the 25-meter Bugio Tower for panoramic views is optional but involves stairs. In Rio de Janeiro, visiting Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain includes walking up and down stairs at viewpoints. The cable car ride to Sugarloaf has minimal walking but requires boarding and unboarding.

Scenic Drives & Long Travel Days

Several included domestic flights require navigating airports, handling luggage, and boarding/unboarding planes efficiently. The journey from Rio de Janeiro to Búzios is a scenic 3-hour drive. Some road conditions in the Pantanal may be bumpy, particularly during transfers between the airport and the eco-lodge.
