Laurie White is a retired Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer, speaker, and author. Born in Brockville, Ontario, she joined the RCMP in 1996 and served in multiple roles including high-school liaison officer and Olympic security planning for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games. In 1998, Laurie survived a gunshot wound that led to the amputation of her right leg. Remarkably, just ten months later, she returned to active duty, becoming the first Canadian police officer to do so with a prosthetic limb. Today, Laurie is a passionate advocate for mental health, disability awareness, and resilience in the face of adversity. She shares her journey through keynote speaking and her acclaimed memoir.
