Upon arrival in South Africa, spend your first night at a hotel conveniently located at the airport to rest after your international flight. The following morning, fly to the Greater Kruger for your first 3-night Safari experience at the 5-star Kapama River Lodge. The game viewing in their private game reserve is spectacular and you will have the chance to see the Big 5 as well as the cheetah.
Next, we’ll fly to Cape Town, the “Mother City” of South Africa, where we’ll will spend 3 nights. Some highlights during our stay in Cape Town are taking the cable car up Table Mountain, visiting the most south-western point of the African Continent, seeing the African Penguins at Boulders Beach, visiting the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and visiting a local wine estate for a cellar tour and wine tasting. Additionally, we’ll be enjoying a private dinner with Christo Brand, Nelson Mandela’s former prisoner guard and friend.
We then fly to Victoria Falls to spend 2 nights at the deluxe Palm River Hotel on the banks of the Zambezi River. Tour the spectacular Wonder of the World, the Victoria Falls. During our time in Victoria Falls, we’ll also visit the local Craft Market, experience a Home Hosted Lunch and a Dinner Cruise on the Zambezi River.
We’ll transfer across the Zimbabwe/Botswana border and spend 2 fabulous days at a 5-star lodge on the Chobe River in the Chobe National Park. Here we will experience game activities on the Chobe River and in the Chobe National Park which is abundant with wild animals and bird life.
Depart from the U.S.A. for your overnight flight to Johannesburg, South Africa.
Upon arrival at the Johannesburg Airport, go through passport control, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. Be met at Arrivals by a guide holding a nameboard. He will escort you to the City Lodge O.R. Tambo which is conveniently located next to the airport. Dinner is on your own since we’ve all had long flights and likely are ready to rest and recalibrate. Breakfast included tomorrow morning.
After breakfast, walk to the Airport Terminal to check in for your flight to Hoedspruit. Upon arrival at the Hoedspruit Airport, be met by your game ranger and transferred in your open safari vehicle to the Kapama River Lodge in the Kapama Private Game Reserve. Check into your Deluxe Suites for 3 nights. Enjoy lunch and your first game drive that afternoon. You will have the chance to see the Big 5 – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard.
A typical day in the Game Reserve:
Each morning, expect an early wake-up call. Gather for refreshments before heading out at first light. The “big cats” may still be around after their night of hunting. Game drives are conducted in open game vehicles with your skilled ranger and tracker to find the animals of Africa for you to admire. Between your morning and afternoon game drives, have some free time go on a guided walking safari, to relax or be treated at the local Spa. Late afternoon, convene for high tea, before departing for the day’s second African Bush Safari. Enjoy a sundowner drink along the way, get out of the vehicle to stretch your legs, and watch the sun set. Return to the lodge for dinner.
Included: all meals, teas and snacks, all local and select premium drinks, two daily safari activities, bush walks

After your morning game drive and breakfast, check out and be transferred to the airport to check in for your flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival at the Cape Town Airport, be met by your driver/guide and transferred to your hotel in Cape Town, the Commodore Hotel, conveniently located on the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Check into your Deluxe Rooms for 3 nights on Bed & Breakfast basis. Enjoy a free evening with dinner on your own.
After breakfast, with your private driver/guide, visit Table Mountain via the Cable Car (weather permitting), the World’s new Seventh Wonder, or visit Signal Hill (if the weather does not allow it, visit Table Mountain’s summit). Visit Jewel Africa for a diamond-cutting demonstration. You will also find exquisitely unique hand-crafted jewelry pieces, authentic African crafts, décor, and gift items. Have a City Tour and see some of the places of interest in South Africa’s “Mother City,” such as Bokaap, before proceeding to the Groot Constantia Wine Estate, the oldest wine estate in South Africa, for a cellar tour and a wine-tasting of some of their locally grown wines. You will have lunch at the local restaurant (on your account). In the afternoon, visit Original T-Bag Designs in Hout Bay, a local community project. Return to your hotel for a free evening. Dinner is on your account and can be enjoyed at the hotel or at one of the many restaurants on the V&A Waterfront, which lies within easy walking distance.
On one of your evenings in Cape Town, have dinner at the Quarterdeck Restaurant in the Portswood Hotel (next to the Commodore Hotel) with Christo Brand as your guest speaker. Christo Brand was Nelson Mandela’s Prison Warden and wrote the book “Mandela: My Prisoner, My Friend.” Dinner is included.
After breakfast, depart from your hotel with your private driver/guide. Travel along the beautiful coast to Hout Bay and along the spectacular Chapman’s Peak. Visit Cape Point, the most south-western point of the African Continent. Walk to the top of the mountain and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean and the surrounding area. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Simons Town overlooking False Bay, on your own account. Visit the statue of “Just Nuisance” and hear the story about this legend. After lunch visit the local African Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach. In the afternoon, visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy this beautiful garden and the diverse selection of local plants and flowers. At the exit of the garden is a gift shop worth browsing through. Return to your hotel for a free evening. Dinner is on your own account.
After breakfast, check out and be transferred to the Cape Town Airport to check in for your flight to Victoria Falls. Be sure to have your $30.00 in cash to pay for your single entry Zimbabwe visa when you arrive at the Victoria Falls Airport. Go through passport control, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. Be met at the airport and transferred to the Palm River Hotel to check into your Deluxe Rooms for 2 nights. You can order a light lunch at the Lodge (on your own account). In the afternoon, transfer to the Zambezi River for an unforgettable luxury Sunset Dinner Cruise on the Malachite vessel. Enjoy the abundant wildlife and the beautiful sunset scenes. A three-course meal and drinks are served along the way. Return to the lodge around 8:30 pm.
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, tour the spectacular Victoria Falls, one of the Wonders of the World. Afterwards, visit the local craft market where local craftsmen are at work and selling their goods. Today you will have a Home Hosted Lunch. Join a local family in their home and enjoy some of their local dishes. This is an opportunity to learn more about their culture. Be returned to the lodge for an afternoon at your leisure. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
After breakfast and check out, be picked up from the Palm River Hotel to be transferred across the border into Botswana. Be transferred to the Chobe Game Lodge which lies on the banks of the Chobe River within in the Chobe National Park. If you enjoy bird watching, this is the place to be! Check into your rooms for 2 nights.
Enjoy lunch before departing for your afternoon game activity, a sunset game cruise on the Chobe River. You will have the chance of seeing abundant game such as hippos, elephants, and crocodile, as well as abundant bird life. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
During your stay at Chobe Game Lodge, two daily safari activities are included, a morning game drive in the Chobe National Park and an afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River. During the day, enjoy this lovely lodge and spend time enjoying the lodge.
After your morning game activity and breakfast, check out and be transferred to the Kasane Airport for your flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg at the O.R. Tambo International Airport, check in for your flight back home, arriving back home the following day.

Intra-country flights (there are four separate flights within Africa) should be approximately $900-$1000 per person. We can begin booking your flights about 10 – 11 months before departure. Amount due will be payable at the time of booking. You must carry with you the credit card used to purchase flights to and from Africa.
International airfare pricing will be based on where you are flying from and what class of service you wish to fly (Economy, Preferred Economy, Business/First). Please keep in mind that the approximate length of a nonstop flight from Atlanta is approximately 15 hours to Johannesburg. We can begin booking your flights about 10-11 months before departure.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Please ensure that your passport is valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended visit and contains at least two (2) unused (blank) facing pages labeled Visa per country you intend to visit. Note: Visa pages referred to above do not include pages reserved for Endorsements, Amendments, or Observations. You will be refused entry into South Africa if these conditions are not met. No visa is required for US citizens to enter South Africa. Visas for Zimbabwe can be obtained at the airport upon arrival and/or at the border post upon entry into the respective country.
COVID-19 – At this time, South Africa requires a negative PCR test for COVID-19 is taken within three calendar days of travel. Vaccinations are not required. Due to the ever-changing landscape of COVID-19, all restrictions and requirements are subject to change before departure.
Immunizations & Malaria: Malaria may be present in some of the areas you will be visiting. You should consult a travel medicine clinic to determine if malaria prophylaxis or additional immunizations are appropriate for your travel plans.
