Traveling alone can be a deeply rewarding experience. For solo female travelers over 50, it’s a chance to embrace independence, explore the world on your terms, and create unforgettable memories. Feeling disconnected or isolated in unfamiliar surroundings is natural, but it doesn’t have to overshadow your adventure. Since my husband does not travel, I often travel alone. ‌I have bouts of loneliness. I recently went on a cross country solo road trip. On my way to Arizona, I stayed one night in Tucumcari, New Mexico. I was so excited to stay in a fun Route 66 motel, but when I arrived and opened up my room, I was overcome with loneliness. I wished my husband could be here to enjoy the vibe of this small town full of Route 66 memories. I did what I always do when I have intense feelings. I grab my journal and write them out. 

I moved past that loneliness, and by the next morning was excited to hit the open road again.
