Activity Level:

Moderate

This is a moderately paced itinerary that involves some longer days and more activities. Expect some early hotel departures, and limited time for day time rest and rejuvenation as the itineraries are designed to ensure that you see as much as possible in these wonderful destinations. This may include longer coach journeys and guests should be able to join a walking tour lasting 1-2 hours with stops possibly over uneven terrain. Guests should have reasonable health and mobility and be comfortable with standing for longer periods of time with no difficulty.

This tour offers a mix of cultural exploration, scenic drives, and leisure, with a moderate activity level required. Here’s what you can realistically expect:

Walking and Standing

Walking tours of Colombo, Kandy, Galle Fort, and the Dambulla Cave Temple involve light to moderate walking on uneven surfaces, cobblestone streets, and stairs, particularly at historical sites like Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the Polonnaruwa Ancient City.  Some visits, like the Dambulla Cave Temple and Sigiriya, include optional uphill climbs or stairs, but less strenuous options are available for those who prefer a gentler pace.

Scenic Drives and Transitions

This itinerary includes several long drives between destinations, offering scenic views of tea plantations, hill country, and wildlife. Participants should be comfortable sitting for extended periods and navigating bus entries and exits.

Outdoor and Nature-Based Activities

Visits to Udawalawe National Park, whale watching in Mirissa, and village tours involve short walks and outdoor exploration, sometimes in warm or humid weather. Lightweight, comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are essential.

Flexibility and Leisure Time

Free afternoons and leisure days in Bentota and Galle allow for relaxation or self-paced exploration. Participants can engage as much or as little as they like, making the tour accessible to varying activity levels.

Community Engagement and Workshops

Interactive activities like the Kandyan craft workshop, cooking class, and women’s empowerment sessions require light participation and minimal physical effort, making them enjoyable and enriching experiences.

Additional Considerations

Participants should be comfortable with moderate activity levels and navigating uneven terrain. Those with mobility challenges can still enjoy much of the itinerary by opting for less strenuous alternatives during excursions.

This tour is ideal for those seeking a balanced experience of culture, nature, and relaxation while enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded Sisters.
