Upon arrival in South Africa, spend the first night in the Johannesburg Airport area to rest after your international flight.
We’ll begin our journey with a flight and 2-night stay in Chobe, Botswana for river cruise game drives as well as game viewing in the Chobe National Park.
Next, we’ll transfer over the border into Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe to spend 2 nights. Visit the spectacular Victoria Falls. Experience a sunset dinner cruise on the Zambezi River and much more.
Then, we’ll fly to Cape Town, the “Mother City” of South Africa, where we’ll spend 3 nights. Some highlights during your stay in Cape Town are taking the cable car up Table Mountain, visiting the most south-western point of the African Continent, seeing the African Penguins at Boulders Beach, visiting the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and visiting a local wine estate for a cellar tour and wine tasting.
Finally, we’ll fly to Hoedspruit for our unforgettable safari experience in a Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger Park area for 3 nights. Game viewing here is fantastic and this lovely lodge will enhance your experience in this beautiful area of South Africa.

Upon arrival at the Johannesburg Airport, go through passport control, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. Be met at Arrivals by a guide holding a nameboard. He will escort you to the City Lodge O.R. Tambo which is conveniently located next to the airport. Dinner is on your own since we’ve all had long flights and likely are ready to rest and recalibrate. Breakfast is included tomorrow morning.
After breakfast and check out, we’ll walk to the Johannesburg Airport Terminal to check in for our group flight to Kasane, Botswana. Upon arrival at the Kasane Airport, we’ll be met and transferred to the Chobe Bush Lodge, where we’ll check in for 2 nights. Enjoy lunch before departing for our afternoon game activity, a sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River. You will have the chance of seeing copious game such as hippos, elephants, and crocodile, as well as abundant bird life. We’ll return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
While in Chobe, we’ll participate in two daily game activities, namely boat cruises on the Chobe River and game drives in the Chobe National Park.

After our morning game activity and breakfast, we’ll check out and be transferred across the border to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Be sure to have your $30.00 in cash (USD) to pay for your single-entry Zimbabwe visa at the border. We’ll check into our Deluxe Rooms at the Palm River Hotel for 2 nights. You can order a light lunch at the Lodge (on your own account).
At 4:30 pm, we’ll be transferred to the Zambezi River for an unforgettable luxury Sunset Dinner Cruise on the Malachite vessel. Enjoy the abundant wildlife and the beautiful sunset scenes. A three-course meal and drinks are served along the way.
We’ll return to the lodge around 8:30 pm.
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, we’ll tour the spectacular Victoria Falls, one of the Wonders of the World. Afterward, we’ll visit the local craft market where local craftsmen are at work and selling their goods. Today, we will have a Home Hosted Lunch where we’ll join a local family in their home and enjoy some of their local dishes. This is an opportunity to learn more about their culture and is not to be missed!
After lunch, we’ll be transferred to the Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary for an opportunity to interact with the elephants that live there! Learn about the elephants as well as their history and how they came to be in the Sanctuary and the threats facing elephant populations today, in an interesting and informative talk. You will meet the elephants at the wallow deck and will then be provided an opportunity to interact, pet, feed and capture photo moments with the gentle giants as well as witness the special relationship our staff share with the elephants and become a part of it. Marvel at the opportunity to meet these beautiful gray giants up close and personal!
After the encounter with these amazing creatures, you will be offered a selection of hot and cold canapés and drinks including local beers, wines, soft drinks, water, coffee & tea. We’ll be transferred back to our lodge.
where we’ll have dinner on the lawn and listen to a historian tell us about the fascinating life of David Livingstone.
After breakfast, we’ll check out and be transferred to the airport to check in for our group flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival at the Cape Town Airport, we’ll be met and transferred to our hotel in Cape Town, the Commodore Hotel, conveniently located on the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Check into your Executive room for 3 nights on Bed & Breakfast basis. Enjoy a free evening, with dinner on your own account. This can be enjoyed either at our hotel or at one of the many restaurants on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront within easy walking distance from our hotel.
After breakfast, with our private driver/guide, visit Table Mountain via the Cable Car (weather permitting), the World’s new Seventh Wonder, or visit Signal Hill (if the weather does not allow visit to Table Mountain’s summit). Visit Jewel Africa for a diamond-cutting demonstration. You will also find exquisitely unique hand-crafted jewelry pieces, authentic African craft, décor and gift items. We’ll have a City Tour and see some of the places of interest in South Africa’s “Mother City” before proceeding to the Groot Constancia Wine Estate, for lunch and wine tasting of some of their locally grown wines. In the afternoon, spend some time on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront for shopping and other attractions. Return to your hotel.
At 6:00 pm meet downstairs in a meeting room with Christo Brand as your guest speaker. Christo Brand was Nelson Mandela’s Prison Warden and wrote the book “Mandela: My Prisoner, My Friend”. Afterward, dinner can be enjoyed in the in-house restaurant with Christo Brand. Dinner is on your own account and can be added to your room to settle before departure from Cape Town.
After breakfast, we’ll meet our guide and board the coach to depart for the day’s sightseeing. We’ll travel along the beautiful coast to Hout Bay and along the spectacular Chapman’s Peak. We’ll visit Cape Point, the most south-western point of the African Continent. Walk to the top of the mountain and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean and the surrounding area. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Simons Town overlooking False Bay. After lunch, we’ll visit the local African Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach.
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy this beautiful garden and the diverse selection of local plants and flowers. At the exit of the garden is a gift shop worth browsing through. Later, we’ll return to our hotel for a free evening. Dinner is on your own account.
After breakfast, we’ll transfer to the Cape Town airport to check in for our group flight to Hoedspruit. Upon arrival at the Hoedspruit Airport, we’ll be met by our game ranger and transferred in our open safari vehicles to the Kapama River Lodge in the Kapama Private Game Reserve where we’ll check into our Deluxe Suites for 3 nights. Enjoy lunch and your first game drive that afternoon. You will have the chance to see the Big 5 – elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard.
A typical day in the Game Reserve:
Each morning, expect an early wake-up call. Gather for refreshments before heading out at first light. The “big cats” may still be around after their night of hunting. Game drives are conducted in open game vehicles with your skilled ranger and tracker to find the animals of Africa for you to admire. Between your morning and afternoon game drives, have some free time go on a guided walking safari, to relax or be treated at the local Spa. Late afternoon, convene for high tea, before departing for the day’s second African Bush Safari. Enjoy a sundowner drink along the way, get out of the vehicle to stretch your legs, and watch the sunset. Return to the lodge for dinner.
After your morning game activity and breakfast, check out and be transferred to the Hoespruit airport to check in for our group flight to Johannesburg and your connecting flight to the U.S.A.

This is a consistently robust itinerary that is likely to be filled with a combination of long, active days, several early hotel departures and some long journeys by coach. There may be limited time for rest and rejuvenation as you explore these amazing destinations. There may be multiple flights and travel by non-traditional means such as safari vehicles, rickshaws/pedicabs, etc. Guests should have reasonable health and mobility and be capable of walking 1-2 miles over time over potentially difficult terrain which may include hills. Guests should be comfortable with standing for longer periods of time with no difficulty.
