Welcome to Buenos Aires, Argentina! You’ll be met in the Arrivals Hall after you pass through immigration and customs by your driver who will transport you to our 5-star hotel. The rest of the day is yours for rest, relaxation or independent exploration. This evening, join your Group Leader for an informal gathering and get to know your new Sisters. (No meals included today)
Today is yours to explore all that Buenos Aires has to offer with your Sisters. This evening, you’re in for a treat! We’ll be heading to La Ventana, located in a restored historic tenement house located in the San Telmo neighborhood for a VIP experience. We’ll start with a Tango lesson of our own, followed by a gourmet dinner featuring Argentine dishes and wines. Finally, we’ll enjoy an incredible performance that will live in your memory for years to come. (Dinner included today)
Our adventure begins with an early morning flight to Ushuaia, where we’ll meet our hybrid-powered expedition ship, MS Fridtjof Nansen, specially designed for sustainable cruising in polar waters. This bustling port is the capital of Argentina’s Tierra del Fuego province. Set against the magnificent backdrop of the Martial Glacier, Ushuaia vies for the title of the world’s southernmost city. After a briefing from our Expedition Team, we’ll have time to settle into our cabins and explore the luxurious comforts and amenities on board. Later, we’ll join together with our Expedition Team for a Welcome Dinner.
On our two-day crossing through the Drake Passage, the Expedition Team will equip us with all we need to make the most of our expedition. You’ll be able to visit the onboard Science Center and find out what lies ahead. Listen to experts talk passionately about Antarctica’s history, the science beneath the ice, and the impact of climate change and plastic pollution. You’ll learn how to make your visit as safe and sustainable as possible and about the Citizen Science projects you can join. We’ll have plenty of time to relax and bond with our Sisters. Plus, we can take an invigorating swim, enjoy a spa treatment and look out for icebergs, whales, and albatrosses.
Nothing quite prepares you for it. Surrounded by looming glaciers and icebergs the size of floating cathedrals, Antarctica will fill you with wonder. Perhaps the most surprising part of Antarctica is the silence. It’s a stillness that’s broken every so often by the locals—the wildlife.
Whales begin to arrive in greater numbers by December and January. This is also when the first penguin chicks hatch, and seeing the clumsy clumps of feathers run around is always a charming sight. February and March are the peaks of whale-watching opportunities when large amounts of krill lure them to the area.
We’ll join the Expedition Team on landings and ice cruises for five days, all included as part of our expedition. You may even get a chance to go kayaking among the icebergs as an optional activity. Perhaps you’ll choose to join others for the Polar Plunge or camp overnight on Antarctica land!
We’ll be crossing back through the Drake Passage. After five days, we’ll only have scratched the surface of all there is to discover. It really is just the tip of the iceberg. Your head will likely still be a swirling kaleidoscope of special memories and new knowledge. If you have more questions, head to the Science Center and chat with the Expedition Team. There’s plenty to do onboard with your Sisters!
Today, we’ll arrive back in Ushuaia, where our expedition draws to a close. From here, we’ll take our charter flight back to Buenos Aires. As we leave this beautiful region behind, we’ll take lasting memories of everything we’ve seen and done, the importance of these precious habitats, and the positive experiences of sustainable expedition travel. Tonight, enjoy dining independently with your Sisters before you pack and prepare to fly home tomorrow. (Breakfast included today)
Today, we’ll be transferred to the Buenos Aires airport for our return flights home. (No meals included today)
