Are you ready to step out of your comfort zone, embrace something new, and create lifelong memories with an incredible group of like-minded women? Join us for the Sisterhood’s Fly Fishing adventure in the serene beauty of Grand Lake Stream, Maine. Picture this: the calm ripple of crystal-clear waters, the thrill of catching your first landlocked salmon, and the warm camaraderie that comes from sharing these experiences with women who share your passion for adventure.
Our home base for this journey is the historic and charming Weatherby’s Lodge, a true gem nestled in the heart of nature. Imagine waking up in your cozy cabin, the fresh scent of pine in the air, ready to spend the day mastering the art of fly fishing with expert instructors who are dedicated to making your experience both educational and fun. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a complete beginner, you’ll find your place here, surrounded by encouragement and the laughter of new friends.
But it’s not just about the fishing. Our time at Weatherby’s is as much about the connections we’ll forge as it is about the fish we’ll catch. Picture yourself unwinding on the lodge’s wonderful porch after a day on the water, sharing stories, toasting to new skills, and truly getting to know the women around you. The porch, with its rustic charm and peaceful views, will quickly become the heart of our gathering—a place where conversations flow as easily as the stream nearby.
So, if you’ve been yearning to try something new, to push your boundaries, and to do it all in the company of supportive, adventurous women, this trip is calling your name. With days filled with fishing, laughter, and learning, and evenings spent by the fire with delicious meals and even better company, this is more than a trip—it’s an experience you’ll cherish forever. Join us at Weatherby’s Lodge, and let’s create something unforgettable together

This morning, promptly at 10 am, we’ll board our group transportation for our 2-hour ride to Weatherby’s Lodge in Grand Lake Stream. Upon arrival, you’ll be assigned your cabins and enjoy the rest of the afternoon enjoying the lodge before you hear the dinner bell (yes – there really is a dinner bell!)
Our fly-fishing school is exclusively for The Sisterhood! Each day, after a hearty breakfast, we’ll be on the water in the mornings and afternoons with one exclusive guide/instructor for every 3 Sisters.
This morning, we’ll be departing Weatherby’s Lodge promptly at 9:00 am for our return trip to the Bangor Airport. Remember to make sure your flights don’t depart before 1:30 pm.
Weatherby’s fishing resource is truly world-class and is home to one of four strains of landlocked salmon found in the lower 48. Gin clear waters, long smooth pools, and steep, fast water all challenge the fly angler and provide the reward of a leaping landlocked salmon. Restricted to fly-fishing only since 1903, the three-mile-long Grand Lake Stream offers fantastic brook trout and salmon fishing.
Our fly-fishing school is private – just for The Sisterhood. We will be on the water for three full days (June 20, 21, and 22). We have one instructor for every 3 Sisters, and if you happen to be more experienced at this, we’ll be sure to match you with others who are as well, if they join us.
Highlights of the course will include instruction in casting, reading the water; knot tying; equipment selection; fly tying; wading, and safety. You will have plenty of on-stream time with your instructor as well as time to fish on your own. Our small class size gives your instructors the flexibility to address the individual needs and interests of each Sister. Everything you will need to fly fish, including waders, poles, flies, and more, is included and provided to you.
As one of the oldest and most famous sporting lodges in the country, Weatherby’s Maine Fishing and Hunting Lodge origins stem from the nineteenth century and has become a way of life for many sportswomen looking for a quality fishing experience. The main lodge was built in the latter half of the 18th century and has been catering to anglers from around the globe for 150 years. Steeped in history, they are an ORVIS-endorsed fly-fishing lodge.
Lodging at Weatherby’s is provided through spacious cottages nestled among the trees, with enough space surrounding them to ensure your privacy. Each of these rustic cottages has its unique character and layout, but all have either an open brick or Franklin fireplace. After all, what’s more, enjoyable after a day of fishing than relaxing by an open fire?
Cabins are of varying sizes accommodating either 1 or 2 guests, and are private, clean, and rustic with open brick fireplaces or wood stoves. If you select a double occupancy room, you may be assigned to a 2-bedroom cottage.
Private baths, electricity, screened porches, and propane heaters make your stay more pleasant and comfortable. The lodge has full-time electricity with back generators in case of power outages. Daily housekeeping is included, as are gratuities for the lodge staff, including housekeeping and dining.
DINING AT THE LODGE
Breakfast and dinner are served at our private group table, while lunch, either a picnic box or hot cook-out, is provided while we’re out on the river. A cook-out is prepared by your guide and is an experience you will long remember.
As for breakfast and dinner, Weatherby’s feeds their guests fresh-baked bread, fish chowder, roast turkey, and lobster dinners, with a signature strawberry-rhubarb pie for dessert. They’re glad to cook what you catch any way you like it! A bounty of homemade bread, rolls, pies, and pastries are baked daily to accompany the delicious meals prepared by the chef.
Beer and wine are included at dinner, but they also provide coffee, tea, lemonade, or iced tea to drink. Weatherby’s can cater to our Sisters with food allergies, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free.
