Activity Level 4

Activity Level:

Busy

This adventure is perfect for travelers with a reasonable level of fitness who are comfortable walking up to a couple of miles a day, handling occasional stairs, and navigating natural landscapes. While there is plenty of free time to rest and recharge, participants should be prepared for an itinerary that includes walking tours, gentle hikes, and travel days with varied activity levels. Here’s a realistic breakdown of the activity level required:

Walking & Standing: Daily walking tours in Buenos Aires, Santiago, and Valparaíso involve walking on cobblestone streets, city sidewalks, and uneven terrain in historic districts.  At Iguazu Falls, both the Brazilian and Argentine sides include paved walkways and staircases with optional extended walking trails to get closer to the waterfalls.  Recoleta Cemetery, Palermo District, and La Boca will require walking through narrow pathways and standing for extended periods.

Stairs, Trails & Inclines: Tierra del Fuego National Park & End of the World Train require getting on and off a historic train and walking on dirt paths and wooden boardwalks.  Torres del Paine National Park & Grey Glacier Lookout involve gentle hiking on uneven trails and natural terrain with moderate inclines. Some walks, like to the Grey Glacier Lookout, require crossing rocky terrain.

Scenic Drives & Long Travel Days: Several long bus rides are required, particularly when traveling through Patagonia and between national parks. These rides offer stunning scenery but require patience and comfort with extended travel times.  Multiple domestic flights within Argentina, Brazil, and Chile require navigating airports, handling luggage, and boarding/unboarding planes efficiently.

Boat & Wildlife Experiences: Tigre Delta River Cruise & Iguazu Falls Boat Ride (optional) require stepping onto boats with possible motion from water currents.   Penguin Walk on Isla Martillo involves light walking on uneven ground while observing wildlife.
