Our dinner together features a tasting menu of modern Latvian cuisine, followed by a private discussion with a Latvian female journalist on the renowned Singing Revolution. This adventure is perfect for travelers with a reasonable level of fitness who are comfortable walking up to 1-2 miles per day, handling occasional stairs, and navigating historic city streets with cobblestones and uneven terrain. While there is plenty of free time to rest and recharge, participants should be prepared for an itinerary that includes walking tours, cultural experiences, and travel days with varied activity levels.
Walking & Standing
Daily guided walking tours in Vilnius, Riga, Tallinn, and Helsinki involve exploring historic old towns with cobblestone streets, some mild inclines, and occasional stairs. Visits to museums and cultural sites often require standing for extended periods. Market visits, artisan workshops, and guided tours include walking through large indoor and outdoor spaces. At Trakai Castle and Rundale Palace, expect to walk on uneven surfaces, climb stairs, and explore large courtyards and gardens. Lahemaa National Park includes light walking on natural terrain, but no strenuous hiking.
Scenic Drives & Long Travel Days
Intercity travel includes long but scenic drives between Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, with a mix of bus rides and rest stops. A 2-hour ferry ride from Tallinn to Helsinki is included, with comfortable seating and smooth sailing conditions.
Cultural & Hands-On Experiences
A variety of interactive experiences, such as a Kibinai cooking class, Latvian textile workshop, and Finnish sauna experience, involve standing and light movement.
