Andy was a featured extra in the Outlander series, one of Jamie’s men from Lallybroch. He has extensive knowledge of the shooting locations as they pertain to the series and historically. Andy’s alter ego, which he will use throughout our tour, is that of an 18th Century Jacobite. During this journey, you will accompany Andy on his adventures and may run into some other Jacobite Highlanders along the way.

Welcome to Scotland! Today is your arrival in this incredible country. Get ready for an amazing week ahead. After a transfer from the airport, you can relax and get acquainted with the hotel we will stay in for the next few nights. In the evening, we will meet for an informal dinner.
Hotel: Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club
This morning we will head out to see the beautiful Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, with filming locations in and around this incredibly beautiful park. From there, we will go down to Glasgow and explore Scotland’s capital, a can’t-miss city that also includes many series filming locations.
This evening we will be having a three-course Welcome Dinner, starting with a champagne reception, at the stunning Hopetoun House. You’ll recognize Hopetoun House as multiple locations in the series, including the stately home of the Duke of Sandringham.

At the start of the evening we will be treated to a live performance by the world famous band Clanadonia, whose music was commissioned for and featured in, the series.
After breakfast at the hotel, we will spend our day touring iconic series filming locations.
We’ll first stop at 14th Century courtyard Castle Doune, the filming site of Claire’s first residence in 18th Century Scotland, Castle Leoch, the Mackenzie clan seat. Then on to Blackness Castle, Fort William in the series. You’ll no doubt recognize the spot Jaimie was viciously flogged by Black Jack Randall. Next we’ll explore Culross, the fictional village of Cranesmuir, where Claire often visited Geillis. Finally heading home to Lallybroch, which in real life is Midhope Castle, a beautiful but derelict 15th Century tower house.
Relax this evening at the hotel, and get ready for another exciting day tomorrow!

After breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our journey to the stunning Glen Coe.
We’ll first enjoy lunch at the Clachaig Inn. Centuries old, the Inn has provided food and accommodation for many traveling through the highlands. If you are a fan of ‘Clanlands: Whisky, Warfare, and a Scottish Adventure Like No Other’ and ‘Men in Kilts’ (and let’s be honest, if you are taking this trip it’s very likely you are) you’ll be delighted to know this is where Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish tasted whiskey on an early September morning.
Following lunch, we will explore a piece of this dramatic National Scenic Area. Accompanying us on our exploration will be one of the village of Glencoe’s scenic portrait photographers. He will be capturing each of our guests throughout the day, featuring the incredible landscape.
There may also be some surprises awaiting us deep in the glen.
Once we depart Glen Coe, we’ll travel north to Inverness, ending our day at the hotel with an evening meal in the restaurant.
Hotel: Palace at Inverness
Breakfast at the hotel, then to Culloden.
Described by the National Trust for Scotland’s website as a “Powerfully emotive and atmospheric battlefield” where on April 16th, 1746 Prince Charles Edward Stuart’s Jacobite army was defeated by the British, marking the end of the highland way of life. Andy will walk us through the battle, and we will pay our respects to the fallen.
This afternoon is yours, enjoy free time to explore Inverness. You may also choose to join an optional excursion to Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle.
Hotel: Palace at Inverness
After breakfast we will travel south. Today we are going to beautiful Kinloch Rannoch and the filming site of Craigh Na Dun.
The standing stones you saw in the series were props, temporarily placed on the site, created from casts of the stones at the real life Callanish Stones found on the Isle of Lewis.
Perhaps the magic of Scotland will bring us stones… you can never be sure on this tour.
We will not just be visiting the site, however. We will stay for the afternoon enjoying a luxury picnic, and welcome a very special visitor, Gillebride MacMillan. Gillebride is a Gaelic singer, songwriter, and teacher. Fans will recognize him as Gwyllyn the Bard on Season One of Outlander, and also visiting with Sam and Graham on Season One Episode Three of ‘Men in Kilts’.
Hotel: Fisher’s Hotel Pitlochry
You may want to take an excursion that we can help arrange for you. (additional cost will apply), or explore the village of Pitlochry.
This evening we will go to Blair Castle. We will tour the castle gardens and grounds before entering the castle for a spectacular 18th Century themed banquet dinner. We will be joined by additional Jacobite Highlanders, and other ‘local villagers’.
Our Very Special Guest for the evening is none other than
You’ll undoubtedly recognize Gary as Colum MacKenzie, Jamie’s uncle and Laird of Clan MacKenzie on the Outlander series.
*VIP Tickets for Gary’s table will be available for purchase.
Immediately following dinner will be an exciting and lively Ceilidh (traditional Scottish dance with callers).
Hotel: Fisher’s Hotel Pitlochry
Back to Edinburgh today after breakfast. We will stop for lunch in Falkland, a beautiful little village that served as early 20th-century Inverness in the series. You will see the hotel Claire and Frank stayed in during their honeymoon and glimpse into the window the ghost of Jamie was found watching Claire brush her hair.
This evening we get settled into our hotel, the Balmoral, whose clock tower is an iconic part of the city skyline, and you are free to begin exploring Edinburgh.
Hotel: Balmoral Hotel
Today is yours. You can take walking tours to the series filming sites in Edinburgh, take self-guided tours, or perhaps you just want to shop in some of the country’s longest-operating establishments. Maybe, you can do it all!
Tonight is our Capstone Dinner, a three-course meal in the Balmoral’s Annan suite offering panoramic views of the city. We will see some of the footage taken by our own trip cinematographer, who will join us throughout the tour. We will also be lucky enough to have a performance from a bagpiper, and Scotland’s youngest clan leader, Iain MacGillivray. Iain can also be seen in ‘Men in Kilts’ Season One Episode Three.
We will be saying goodbye to Andy tonight, as his adventures will continue elsewhere, but don’t worry; you’ll get caught up on the conclusion of his story in the trip video you will receive in the weeks following the trip.
Hotel: Balmoral Hotel
Unfortunately, today is the day you will have to say goodbye to this amazing country, your new Sisters, and wonderful experiences. Don’t worry too much however, you will have plenty of memories to take home to help you remember.
And don’t forget; we’ll always be here whenever you want to step into a world you’ve only visited in your dreams.
