PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION CAREFULLY
This tour is ideal for travelers who enjoy moderate activity levels and are comfortable with periods of walking, standing, and using local transportation in historic European cities. Here’s a realistic breakdown of the activity level and why it’s needed for this itinerary:
Moderate Walking Distances: In cities like Prague and Budapest, where motor coach access is limited, we’ll walk to reach some major landmarks. Prague Castle involves a 3-hour visit with prolonged standing and walking over uneven cobblestone paths. Walking distances may cover several miles throughout the day, especially during city tours, with occasional short uphill climbs or stairs in historic areas.
Standing for Extended Periods: Certain tours, such as those at Prague Castle and Budapest’s Castle District, involve standing for up to three hours, which requires stamina. Since many historic sites don’t offer seating, participants should feel comfortable standing for longer periods, especially when visiting castles, cathedrals, and museums.
Using Public Transportation: In Budapest, the city tour includes the use of public transit, which may mean standing on buses or trams, navigating stairs, and walking through stations. This experience adds a touch of local flair but also requires a bit of mobility and balance.
Cobbled and Uneven Streets: Walking tours in historic cities like Cesky Krumlov, Prague, Vienna, and Bratislava often feature cobbled streets, narrow sidewalks, and sometimes steep inclines. Comfortable walking shoes with good grip are essential for these varied surfaces.
This tour is perfect for travelers who can manage moderate walking, standing, and navigating public transportation. If you love to explore at a relaxed but steady pace, with breaks for resting and dining in charming spots, you’ll find this itinerary richly rewarding as it combines both engaging activities and leisurely time to explore, rest, and immerse yourself in the local culture.
