Today, you’re in for a real treat! We’ll leave the town of Lecce behind and journey through Salento’s wine country. Pass rows of vines and olive groves until we reach Otranto. Soak in the mysterious atmosphere during a guided walking tour of Otranto’s treasures: the fortified walls, the mosaic-rich churches, and the sudden views over the Mediterranean Sea. Our day continues at a local winery featuring a tasting of Salice Salentino wine. This intense and full-bodied wine comes from the region’s dark-purple grapes wine, known by the locals as “negroamaro” (which translates to “black-bitter”).
