Welcome to Naples! Upon arrival, your driver will wait for you in the Arrivals Hall to transport you to our beautiful hotel. No formal activities are planned today as we hope you’ll rest, rejuvenate, and recharge from your flights. Perhaps you’ll meet your new Sisters at an informal meet and greet this evening. No meals are included today.

Today will be a day of independent exploration with your new Sisters. Naples is a vibrant mecca for locals and travelers. Volcanic landscapes give way to medieval architecture and Grecian lanes, creating a unique culture exclusive to Naples. This evening, we’ll toast to the start of our Southern Italy vacation as we come together for a Welcome Dinner, looking out over the deep blue Bay of Naples to Mt. Vesuvius looming in the distance. (Breakfast and Dinner)

Today, we’ll explore Naples’ exuberant historic city center (UNESCO) and underground ancient ruins with a local guide. We’ll visit the Sansevero Chapel, home to the Veiled Christ statue, rumored to be created by alchemy due to its carved flowing cloth. During our afternoon at leisure, consider visiting the nearby National Archeological Museum and peruse relics from Pompeii. Tonight’s exclusive experience comes in the form of a private concert performed by the Napulitanata social enterprise, which supports Italian heritage and abates the city’s high unemployment. Feel the ghosts of the past as we wander through Pompeii with a guide. After we’ve explored the public baths and private villas, we’ll get a new perspective on the volcanic countryside with a visit to a nearby winery. Layers of ash have transformed the timeworn soil into a fertile vineyard. Enjoy a wine tasting with lunch before we continue to the beloved Amalfi Coast. Watch the sun fade along the horizon in coastal Minori, our new home, for the next four nights. (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner)

A fishing village of terraced lemon groves, Minori exudes the quintessential Amalfitana vibe. We’ll start our morning in a garden and learn about sfusato lemons, used in limoncello. We will sample this fragrant liqueur in a pastry shop before hiking* along the coast. We’ll trek the rugged Path of Lemons – an ancient, hilly route that links Minori with the nearby town Maiori. We’ll have a chance to explore on our own before returning. The remainder of the day is yours to spend with your Sisters. (Breakfast)

This morning, we’ll journey to Amalfi, the rocky coast’s namesake town. Formerly a maritime republic, Amalfi puts a historical spin on the seaside hubs, containing cobblestone piazzas and towering mosaicked cathedrals. After a few hours on your own with your Sisters, we’ll pass tumbling cliffs and pastel-colored houses on our way to Positano. We can enjoy a free afternoon in this resort town – you’ll most definitely want to sample the cuisine! Later, we’ll return to Minori. (Breakfast)

Look down upon the Amalfi Coast from Ravello, a picturesque village with the best vantage point of the winding coastline. Then, you get to choose! You can either visit the gardens of Villa Rufolo, making your way through a latticework of hedges and flowers to gaze out at the azure waves below -OR- hike the half-mile trail down to the remote gardens of Villa Cimbrone*** before returning to Minori for an afternoon at leisure. This morning, we’ll discover one of Italy’s delectable cheese products while visiting a dairy farm. We’ll taste freshly made mozzarella for lunch before continuing south to Matera (UNESCO), whose inimitable scenery has been featured in blockbuster films. We’ll experience the town’s cave dwellings, your home for the next two nights. Each cave is unique, half-excavated, and half-carved from the land. In these unparalleled accommodations,**** we’ll connect with the Italian landscape like never before. (Breakfast and Lunch)

This morning, we’ll delve into Matera’s 9,000-year-old history on a guided walking tour along its hillside caves, narrow passages, and steep alleys known to locals as the Sassi. The afternoon is yours to explore more of Matera’s heritage with your Sisters. Perhaps you’ll visit the remarkable Palombaro Lungo underground water cistern or head out of town to hike through the surrounding countryside with prehistoric caves and medieval rock churches. Today, we’ll cross into the Puglia region and pause at an olive grove to learn about the different kinds of oil before continuing to Lecce, a Baroque powerhouse of limestone. We’ll get to know the city with a local expert and take in its iconic architecture and papier-mâché craftsmanship. We’ll dine around Lecce this evening with a multi-stop dinner in the city center. (Breakfast and Dinner)
Hotel: Santa Chiara Suite Hotel
Today, you’re in for a real treat! We’ll leave the town of Lecce behind and journey through Salento’s wine country. Pass rows of vines and olive groves until we reach Otranto. Nestled in Puglia’s easternmost corner, this quaint seaside town unveils a rich history: Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans, Spaniards, and French all vied for control of this strategic port – Italy’s gateway to the Levant and the Holy Land. Soak in the mysterious atmosphere during a guided walking tour of Otranto’s treasures: the fortified walls, the mosaic-rich churches, and the sudden views over the Mediterranean Sea. Our day continues at a local winery featuring a tasting of Salice Salentino wine. This intense and full-bodied wine comes from the region’s dark-purple grapes wine, known by the locals as “negroamaro” (which translates to “black-bitter”). Learn about the traditional techniques and productions as you sample the wine, followed by a delicious lunch. (Breakfast and Lunch)

Today, we’ll stop in Ostuni, a whitewashed town surrounded by olive trees. Zoom through the town like a local in the backseat of an open-air Ape Calessino, a traditional 3-wheeled car. Enjoy some free time with your Sisters before arriving in Alberobello. We’ll make our way to our personal rooms,**** Make the most of a free evening and join your Sisters in discovering the town’s secrets. (Breakfast)

Say “buongiorno” to Alberobello (UNESCO), a whimsical city that hosts a collection of cone-shaped trulli homes. Meander through a labyrinth of these gnomish houses, sometimes featuring symbols with superstitious connotations. The afternoon is yours to explore independently. As the day draws to a close, wish Italy goodbye at our Farewell Dinner. (Breakfast and Dinner)

Sadly, today it’s time bid Italy goodbye as we return to the Bari airport for our flights home. (Breakfast)
